ChoiSmart helps readers compare tools by task, cost and practical constraints. Here is what we have verified, what remains editorial judgment, and what a score cannot tell you.

Research-based coverage, with testing status made explicit
The current catalog is based on public product information and editorial analysis. We have not published a hands-on benchmark dataset for these products. We do not present vendor demos, marketing claims or another publication's tests as our own results.
The evaluation exercises in our buying guides are tasks a reader can try before subscribing. They are clearly described as suggested tests, not completed ChoiSmart experiments.
How we build a recommendation

Documented capabilities
We look for the features required to complete the workflow, including exports, permissions, supported formats, capacity and collaboration. A feature available somewhere in a product is not necessarily included in its entry plan.

Total commitment
We distinguish month-to-month payments, annual equivalents, prepaid terms, per-user prices, introductory offers and renewals. Free access is described together with its restrictions; a trial is not an ongoing free subscription.

Limitations and alternatives
A recommendation should explain when to choose something else or buy nothing. We include reasons to skip the product, and compare alternatives by the problem they solve rather than treating unrelated products as interchangeable.
What ChoiScore means
ChoiScore is a subjective editorial assessment on a ten-point scale. It summarizes documented capabilities, value and fit for the intended user. It is not a customer-review average, a laboratory measurement, or a prediction of your business results.
The displayed ratings are not calculated by a published weighted formula. A difference such as 9.1 versus 9.2 should not be treated as a statistically meaningful performance advantage. Use the explanation, restrictions and price alongside the number.
We do not display numerical output-quality, support or hosting-performance sub-scores without a corresponding published test. If we add hands-on coverage, the review should identify the tested plan, date, task, settings, sample outputs and limitations.
Sources and pricing checks
Official pricing pages and documentation support plan details. Each researched price includes a source and check date where available. A date on a pricing block refers to that pricing check; it does not certify that every feature on the entire page was retested that day.
If a public page does not establish an unambiguous figure, we identify the uncertainty and link to the provider. We do not substitute an introductory price for a renewal quote or invent a monthly charge from an annual offer. All sample calculations state their assumptions and exclude unverified extras.
How the finder and comparisons work
The finder uses the task, budget and context you select. For an AI tool, a fixed monthly budget requires a verified monthly payment; an annual equivalent does not qualify. Free-only results exclude paid trials and preview-only workflows that cannot produce a usable export for the selected task.
Hosting results are a shortlist to investigate because resource needs and renewal terms vary. Comparisons use consistent capability names. “Not verified” means we lack a confirmed comparable value, rather than proving a capability is absent.
Our catalog is selective and does not represent the entire market. An unavailable match can be the correct answer.
How affiliate links affect the site
We may earn a commission when a reader buys through a participating link. That supports the site. An affiliate relationship does not automatically determine ChoiScore, editorial-pick status or whether a product is included. Products without an active partner link can remain in the catalog with an ordinary official link.
A recommendation still needs to make sense for the reader's task and budget. Affiliate buttons are identified near the relevant content, and the full explanation is available in our affiliate disclosure.
What would improve the evidence
Published, repeatable first-hand tests would make these reviews stronger: representative scripts with audio samples, exported videos with settings, or hosting measurements on a documented application and test region. Until that work is available, we keep our conclusions within the limits of public research and editorial judgment.
